Health Care

Can you say FUD? I learned that from a nice person on these boards.
I listened to Rush today. He started stressing that the health care bill will allow for people to get their abortions funded by the bill if it is passed.
No, there is nothing about abortion in the bill. The real problem is not that abortions are paid for more than they are not expressly NOT paid for. There are lots of fiscally responsible democrats that are asking Nancy Pelosi to add a specific clause in the health care bill that will make it clear that abortions *unless life of mother is at risk (*that last part is my idea) are not to be covered.
Pro Abortionists say that it will infringe on a woman's right to have an abortion, and I will use my new favorite word, "Poppycock". They are not telling a woman she is not allowed to get an abortion, they are just saying that taxpayers will not be paying for it.
I'm still conservative, I'm still Republican, and I am still right of center, but I will not sit around and listen to drivel no matter the source.
I've probably just lost my membership to the right wing extremists club, but I think I'll survive.

"I will not sit around and listen to drivel" Kate, there isn't much difference between Limbaugh and the WWE. Both are mindless entertainment. Both take liberties with the truth. Both made their founder very wealthy. No need to stress over it.

An amendment to the bill was introduced "to exclude abortions" from the new government run health care system. It was thrown out.
This is how these bills work, if you don't specifically exclude someone thing, then IT IS COVERED. So the answer is YES if anyone of the 3 bills should pass as written then abortion is covered.

That is my point, Finlay,
If they don't expressly say that they won't cover an abortion then there will be that person who will go through loopholes in the bill.
The government is not supposed to purposefully put loopholes in their bills to cover their agendas. I wonder how much of this health care bill has nothing to do with health? It seems to be the "status quo" for Congress. Sneak it in there, the President won't read it, Congress won't read it, they'll just blindly follow what they believe the good points to be.
I'm having a battle with my 6 year old grandson. He's in museum camp this week and we told him if he does well and behaves we will give him a gift from the gift shop. Then we told him what kind of gift he would have to choose from. All things we mentioned are practical, a backpack, a lunchbox, a hat, wallet or shoes with a dino on it. NONE of them were dinosaur toys. He still won't believe that I am not going to let him buy a toy. He's trying to make deals with me in order to get his way. I wanted to tell him that I'm not in Congress and I cannot be bribed. He doesn't quite get it.
