Annise Parker's sexual lifestyle (or orientation for those who believe in that premise)is a very important part of the voter's decision for two reasons. Statistics show that most people still believe homosexuality, bisexuality, transgenderism, etc. are wrong, immoral and or sinful behaviors. A candidate running who was a known adulterer could not expect it to be glossed over in the scrutiny by voters. Second and at least as importantly, Parker's lifestyle is her public policy and her aggressive commitment to undefining marriage, promoting the normalization, teaching and governmental promotion of those lifestyles runs contrary to the clear, established will of the voters. Alternative sexual lifestyles are destructive to children, families and marriage, so are therefore a threat to the social, economic and moral stability of society. That reality makes the issue fair game in a race for the highest elected office in the fourth largest city in America.
