I've struggled with this one since the day it happened. I really wonder what that old guy is like. On the 911 tape he sounds absolutely crazed and set on killing the guys in his yard. No doubt about that. Is that who he is or did he just lose it for a few minutes? I guess I'll never know.

He sounded trigger happy and rather purposeful to me. It seemed like he was determined to shoot someone. The 911 operator apparently picked up on the same thing.

Was he mentally unbalanced or just a cold blooded muderer? We'll never know for sure.

Had the miscreants attacked him with deadly weapons in his house and had he shot them in the front in self defense, we would not even be having this conversation.

Sorry to disagree dan, but we are nation of laws.

I get angry at the who cut me off in traffic while they speed and violate numerous traffic laws. Should I be allowed to start firing at anyone who's "committing a crime" while operating a motor vehicle on our streets?

Our criminal justice system is the culmination of our 200+ year existence as a nation. If you disagree with how criminals or victims get treated by it, then you had best work to have laws you disagree with repealed. Everyone armed and firing indiscriminately at those they feel have broken laws is not where I'd like to see this country go in the future.

It is like the guy in the movie Halloween. People kill it but it keeps coming back from the dead and getting back up. I guess it is quite fitting, given what tomorrow is.

I've often wondered if this topic would be argued about so much if Horn had been convicted of the killings in some sort of way. Something like manslauighter, perhaps. Would folk still argue about it? My guess is probably not, but we'll never know for sure.
